Marvin Cheung was born and grew up in Hong Kong. He became a professional accountant in the United Kingdom. He did very well in all his professional exams. In 2008, the Chief Executive chose him to become the Chairman of the Airport Authority. In 2009, he joined HSBC Holdings as a non-executive director. This means he helped guide the company without being involved in its daily work. When he passed away, he was also a director for other big companies like Hang Seng Bank and Sun Hung Kai Properties. He also represented Hong Kong on a special committee that looked at global accounting rules.
