Marvin "Smitty" Smith, born on June 24, 1961, is an American jazz drummer and composer. He is known for his amazing drumming skills and for playing with many famous musicians.
About Marvin "Smitty" Smith
Marvin Smith grew up in Waukegan, Illinois. His dad, Marvin Sr., was also a drummer, so "Smitty" was around music from a very young age. He even started getting formal music lessons when he was just three years old!
After finishing high school, Marvin went to the Berklee College of Music, a famous school for musicians. He graduated in 1981.
Marvin has played drums on over 200 albums with different artists. He has also released two of his own solo albums. He has toured with many well-known musicians like Sting, Dave Holland, Sonny Rollins, and Willie Nelson.
From 1995 to 2009, Marvin was the drummer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno band, which was led by Kevin Eubanks. He also played drums for Jay Leno Show band in 2009 and 2010.
