Mary Dumont's Career Journey
Chef Dumont has appeared on popular TV shows. These include The Today Show and Iron Chef America. On Iron Chef America, she competed against Chef Cat Cora.
Before opening her own restaurants, Dumont was the chef at Harvest in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was known for making new and exciting dishes there.
Before Harvest, Chef Dumont started The Dunaway Restaurant. This restaurant was at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In 2006, Food & Wine magazine named her "Best New Chef" while she was there.
In 2017, Dumont opened a restaurant called Cultivar. It was located at the Ames Boston Hotel. Cultivar closed its doors in 2019.
In September 2021, Chef Dumont and Pat McAuley opened PlantPub. This restaurant focused on plant-based food and craft beer. PlantPub had locations in Cambridge and Boston. It closed in 2023.
As of 2025, Chef Dumont is the executive chef. She works at the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Mary Dumont was born in Lowell, Massachusetts. She grew up in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Her childhood home was the historic Governor Weare home.
She learned to cook in the kitchens of famous chefs. These chefs included Tracy Des Jardins, Laurent Manrique, and Daniel Patterson. All of these kitchens were in San Francisco.
