Mary McCrossan (1865 – 3 November 1934) was a talented British painter. She was famous for her beautiful paintings of landscapes and marine scenes. These are pictures of nature and the sea.

Mary McCrossan was born in Liverpool, England, in 1865. She loved art from a young age. She studied at the Liverpool School of Art. Mary was a very successful student there. She won gold and silver medals for her work. She also won a special scholarship to travel and study more.
Later, Mary went to Paris, France. She continued her art studies at the Académie Delécluse. In Paris, she also won a silver medal and another travel scholarship. After her studies, Mary moved to St Ives in Cornwall. This was a popular place for artists. She learned from a famous artist named Albert Julius Olsson. Mary then opened her own art studio. She also had a studio in London later on.
Mary McCrossan's paintings were shown in many important art exhibitions. She exhibited her work with groups like the New English Art Club. She also showed her art at the Paris Salon. This was a very important art show in Paris. In 1898, she first showed her paintings at the Royal Academy in London. This is a very famous art institution. Over her career, she showed 22 paintings there.
In 1914, Mary McCrossan showed her paintings of Venice in Paris. In 1926, she was chosen to be part of the Royal Society of British Artists. This was a great honor for her. After she passed away, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool held a special exhibition to remember her. The Contemporary Art Society also owns some of her artworks today.
