Mary Riggans (born July 19, 1935 – died December 2, 2013) was a talented Scottish actress and singer. She was most famous for playing Susie Sweet in the popular children's TV show Balamory. She also played Effie Macinnes in the Scottish soap opera Take the High Road. Mary started acting when she was just 11 years old, doing voiceovers. She went on to star in many television, radio, and theatre productions.

Mary Riggans had a long and successful acting career. She was well-known for her role as Effie Macinnes. This character was in the Scottish TV show Take the High Road. Mary played Effie from the early 1980s until the show ended in 2003.
Starring in Balamory
Many young viewers will remember Mary as Susie Sweet. Susie was a friendly character in the children's TV show Balamory. This show was very popular from 2002 to 2005. Mary also played Sadie in another TV show called Still Game from 2002 to 2007. She even appeared in the very first episode of the detective show Taggart, called "Killer".

She said that Mary was respected by her colleagues. She was also loved by the young audience of CBeebies. Yvonne added that Mary was a kind and generous woman. She helped new, young actors grow, just like her character Susie Sweet.
