Masao Ono (大埜 正雄, Ono Masao, March 2, 1923 – February 11, 2001) was a talented Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a Midfielder and represented the Japanese national team.

Early Life and Club Football
Masao Ono was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on March 2, 1923. After finishing high school, he went to the University of Tokyo.
After graduating from university, Masao Ono joined a football club called Nissan Chemical. He also played for another team known as University of Tokyo LB. This team was special because it was made up of players who were either still studying at the University of Tokyo or had already graduated from there.
With the University of Tokyo LB team, Masao Ono achieved a big win. They won the 1949 Emperor's Cup in 1949. The Emperor's Cup is one of the most important football tournaments in Japan. He played alongside other great players like Ko Arima in this winning team.
Playing for Japan
In March 1954, Masao Ono was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This was a very exciting time for him. He joined the team for the 1954 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. These matches decide which teams get to play in the main World Cup tournament.
On March 14, 1954, Masao Ono made his first appearance, or "debut," for the national team. His first game was against the South Korea team. He also had the chance to play in the 1954 Asian Games, which is a major sports event for countries in Asia. In total, he played 3 games for Japan during 1954.
Masao Ono passed away on February 11, 2001, at the age of 77.
