Mashiska Washington was born on December 19, 1974. He is a former professional tennis player from the United States. He is also the younger brother of MaliVai Washington, who was a runner-up at the famous Wimbledon Championships in 1996.

Mashiska Washington's Tennis Journey
Mashiska Washington started his tennis career playing in college. He played for Michigan State University. In 1994, he was named an All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college players in the country.
Early Professional Matches
Washington began playing on the ATP Tour in 1995. This is where professional tennis players compete. His first big match was at the Canadian Open in Montreal, Canada. He played against a very experienced player named Mats Wilander. Washington lost this match in the first round.
Playing at the US Open
In 1996, Washington got a special chance to play at the US Open. He played in the mixed doubles event with his sister, Mashona Washington. Mixed doubles is when a team has one male and one female player. They lost their first match to a brother and sister team, Cyril Suk and Helena Suková.
Later, in 1999, Washington received another special entry into the US Open. This time, it was for the main singles tournament. Before the US Open, he won a match against Juan Ignacio Chela at the 1999 Legg Mason Tennis Classic. At the US Open, he played against Ján Krošlák from Slovakia. Washington lost this match in four sets.
Later Career Highlights
Washington only made it past the first round of an ATP Tour tournament one other time. This was at the 2002 Brasil Open. He won his first match against Ivo Heuberger. However, he then lost to Gustavo Kuerten, who went on to win the entire tournament.
