Massasoit State Park has lots of trails for you to explore. You can go walking, hiking, or biking. In winter, you can even go cross-country skiing! If you like horses, the trails are also great for riding.

If you enjoy being on the water, there's a special launch area at Lake Rico. You can use it for boats that don't have motors, like canoes or kayaks. For those who love to fish, Big Bearhole Pond has a spot just for anglers. Sometimes, hunting is allowed in certain areas, but it's carefully controlled.

A Park's Comeback Story

In 2008, something unexpected happened at the park. A lightning strike damaged the park's underground electric system. This caused many parts of the park to close down for a while.

By 2015, some areas were reopened for cars to drive through. Park officials hoped to reopen the large 126-site campground soon. Finally, the entire park was fully reopened in 2018. It's now ready for everyone to enjoy its natural beauty once again!
