The second season of the exciting Canadian cooking show MasterChef Canada started on CTV on February 1, 2015. It ended on May 24, 2015. The show was filmed in the fall of 2014.
This season was won by David Jorge, a concrete contractor from Surrey, British Columbia. He was the first winner from Western Canada. David still holds the record as the oldest winner of MasterChef Canada. After winning, David worked with Matthew Stowe (another top chef) to open a steak and seafood restaurant called S+L Kitchen & Bar. They now have three locations in British Columbia.
This season was special because it was the first time a home cook from the West Coast (British Columbia) competed against someone from the East Coast (New Brunswick) in the final round. Also, Cody Karey, a recording artist, was the first contestant ever to be invited back into the competition after being eliminated! He made it all the way to the final four.
Two other contestants from this season, Christopher Siu (who finished 5th) and Andrew Al-Khouri (who finished 10th), later returned to compete in MasterChef Canada: Back to Win. Christopher Siu even won that competition!
