Matabuena is a small and charming municipality (which means a town or district) located in the province of Segovia, in the region of Castile and León, Spain. It's a quiet place with a rich history, known for its beautiful natural surroundings. In 2018, about 178 people lived there.
History of Matabuena
The name "Matabuena" has a special meaning. It comes from "Mata Buena," which means "good forest" or "good timber." This tells us that long ago, this area was full of valuable trees, especially good oak trees. There was also a nearby place called "Matamala," meaning "bad forest," which had trees of poorer quality, like ash. Matabuena is also one of the villages that belong to the larger town of Pedraza.
