Maths-In-A-Box was a fun and educational TV show made by BBC Schools. It helped kids learn about math and how to solve problems.

The story was about a girl named Tracey Dixon (played by Melissa Wilks) and her friend Paul (played by Clark Flanagan). They meet an alien visitor named Powka (played by Eugene Geasley) from a planet called Scooter. Powka travels in a spaceship that looks like a small cube, almost like a game dice.

To leave his ship and become human-sized, Powka says the magic words: ‘Tiki tiki tox, out of the box’. Paul and Tracey can also shrink down and go inside the box with Powka by saying the same magic words.

Learning Math with Powka

Throughout the series, Paul and Tracey teach Powka important math skills. These include basic counting, geometry (the study of shapes), and how to measure things. It was a clever idea because the children were the teachers, and Powka, the adult alien, was the student!

The math lessons in the show were always based on real-life examples. This helped viewers understand how math is used every day. There were also fun side stories, like how only children could see Powka, but adults could not.
