Matias Damásio is a famous singer and songwriter from Angola. He was born on May 9, 1982. He is well-known for his popular music, especially romantic songs and Kizomba music.
Matias Damásio is also very popular in Portugal. His album Por Amor reached number 4 on the Portuguese music charts in 2016. Another album, Augusta, even made it to number 1 in Portugal in 2018.

Life and Music Journey
Matias Damásio was born in Benguela, Angola. He later moved to Luanda, the capital city, to find more opportunities for his music career. He started singing in the year 2000 at religious festivals.
Early Career and Contests
Matias first appeared on television in a contest called Estrelas no Palco (which means Stars on Stage). He made it to the finals! After that, he joined a band called Maravilha and also worked with João Alexandre in another contest, Domingão Coca-Cola, where they finished as runner-up. His first time on Angolan Public Television was in 2003.
Success and Awards
Over the years, Matias Damásio has released many albums and performed at big music festivals. He has won many awards in Angola. For example, he won Best Male Singer and Best Song at the top Rádio Luanda awards in 2015. He also won Best Song again at the same event in 2017.
He became very successful in Portugal with his song "Loucos" in 2016. He even toured Portugal and performed at major festivals like Sudoeste. He also played at famous venues like the Coliseu of Lisbon and Porto.
In 2020, Matias Damásio joined 20 other Angolan artists to sing the Angolan national anthem, Angola Avante. This was to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the anthem. Other famous singers like Filipe Mukenga, Eduardo Paím, and Yola Araújo were also part of this special collaboration.
