Matthew Box was chosen by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe to be their chairman. He was elected in 2008 for a three-year term. He officially started his role as chairman on December 21, 2008, taking over from Clement Frost.
Challenges and Changes
In December 2010, some people wanted to remove Matthew Box from his position. This is called a recall election. There were concerns about how things were being managed. However, not enough people voted in the recall election, so he remained chairman.
Matthew Box later resigned from his role as Chairman of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe on February 10, 2011.
Other Roles and Family Life
Besides being a chairman, Matthew Box is also the Bear Dance Chief for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. This is a very important cultural role.
He has three children named Jakob, Morgann, and Noah.
