Matthew Daddario is an American actor. He was born on October 1, 1987. Many people know him for playing Alec Lightwood in the TV show Shadowhunters. This popular fantasy series aired from 2016 to 2019.

Early Life and Family
Matthew Daddario grew up in New York City. His mom, Christina Daddario, is a lawyer. His dad, Richard Daddario, used to work as a lawyer for the government. He also led a special police team in New York. Matthew's older sister is also an actress, Alexandra Daddario.
His grandfather, Emilio Daddario, was a politician. He represented the state of Connecticut in the U.S. government. Matthew has family roots from Italy, England, Ireland, and Slovakia. He went to the Collegiate School. Later, he studied economics at Indiana University Bloomington, finishing in 2010.
Acting Career
Matthew Daddario started his acting career in movies. His first big film role was as Aaron in the drama Breathe In in 2013. That same year, he also appeared in the comedy movie Delivery Man.
In 2014, Matthew played Danny Ladouceur in the sports drama When the Game Stands Tall. This movie was about a famous football coach and his team. In 2015, he was in the teen comedy-drama Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List.
A big moment in his career came in 2015. It was announced that he would play Alec Lightwood in the TV series Shadowhunters. This show was based on the popular The Mortal Instruments books. The series started in January 2016 and finished in May 2019. Matthew received several awards and nominations for his role in Shadowhunters.
In 2016, he also starred in the horror film Cabin Fever. More recently, in 2020, he joined the cast of Why Women Kill. In this show, he played a character named Scooter.
Personal Life
Matthew Daddario married Esther Kim on December 31, 2017. They have two children together. Their first child was born in September 2020. Their second child was born in July 2024.
