Matthew Christian Reinhart, born on September 21, 1971, is an American artist. He writes and illustrates amazing pop-up books and picture books for kids. He is famous for making books where pictures pop right off the page! Some of his recent popular books include Frozen: a Pop-up Adventure and Lego Pop-up: A Journey through the Lego Universe.

Early Life and Dreams
Matthew Reinhart was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His dad was in the United States Navy, so Matthew's family moved around a lot. They lived in many different states, like Florida, Texas, and California.
After high school, Matthew first thought about becoming a doctor. He studied biology at Clemson University. But while he was there, he also took art classes. He loved art and started to think that maybe his true path was in creating things.
Becoming a Pop-Up Artist
After college, Matthew moved to New York City. There, he met another famous children's book author, Robert Sabuda. Robert Sabuda was already well-known for his incredible pop-up books. He encouraged Matthew to follow his passion for art.
Matthew then went to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He studied industrial design, which included learning how to design toys. Soon, his dream changed from designing toys to becoming a "paper engineer." This means he learned how to make paper fold and pop up in amazing ways!
Famous Collaborations
Matthew Reinhart has worked with Robert Sabuda on many best-selling pop-up books. One of their most famous series is Encyclopedia Prehistorica, which explores dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. They also created Encyclopedia Mythologica, featuring fairies, magical creatures, gods, and heroes.
Matthew has also made many award-winning pop-up books on his own. These include Cinderella, Star Wars: The Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy, and Transformers: The Ultimate Pop-up Universe. He has even worked with other authors like Tomie dePaola on Brava Strega Nona!.
