Matty's Funday Funnies was a popular American TV show that aired from 1959 to 1961. It was a collection of animated cartoons, perfect for kids and families.

Matty's Funday Funnies first aired on October 11, 1959. The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) broadcast the show. It was usually on Sunday afternoons. Later, it also had a prime-time slot on Friday evenings.

These cartoons were part of a series called "Noveltoons." When they appeared on Matty's Funday Funnies, their opening titles were changed. They became known as Harveytoons. Matty's Funnies Changes

Matty's Funnies with Beany and Cecil

On January 6, 1962, a new Matty's show began. It was called Matty's Funnies with Beany and Cecil. This series featured characters created by Bob Clampett. The main characters were Beany and Cecil.

In this new show, Matty Mattel and Sister Belle looked a bit different. They appeared as directors of the cartoons. They also showed up during breaks. They were joined by Clampett's characters, including:

  • Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent
  • Captain Huffenpuff
  • Dishonest John
  • Go Man Van Gogh

Only 26 half-hour episodes were made in this format. The last new episode aired on June 30, 1962. The show then continued to air as reruns until December 29, 1962. From 1963 to 1965, the series was repeated on Sunday mornings. It was later shown in syndication as Beany and Cecil.
