Maura Derrane's TV Journey
Maura grew up on Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands in County Galway. She started her career working behind the scenes. She was a researcher for RTÉ News in Galway. This helped her learn a lot about how TV news is made.
Starting Out at TG4 and TV3
In 1996, Maura joined TG4, an Irish-language television channel. She worked there as a news reporter. Two years later, in 1998, she moved to TV3 News. At TV3, she continued to work as a news reporter. She also became a crime correspondent, reporting on important news stories.
Becoming a Show Presenter
From 2004 to 2006, Maura became a co-presenter on Ireland AM. This was a popular morning show. She also presented three series of a show called Feirm Factor on TG4.
