Maureen Cusack (born Mary Margaret Kiely) was an Irish actress. She was born on 24 November 1920, in Glenties, a town in County Donegal, Ireland. Maureen was married to the famous Irish actor Cyril Cusack.

Together, they had five children: Sinéad, Sorcha, Niamh, Paul, and Pádraig. Many of her family members followed in her footsteps! Her daughters Sinéad, Sorcha, and Niamh all became actresses. Her son Pádraig is a theatre producer. Maureen's grandsons include actors Max Irons and Calam Lynch. Her grandson Richard Boyd Barrett is a politician. Her granddaughter Megan Cusack is also an actress.

Maureen Cusack's Acting Career

Maureen Cusack was a very important actress in Ireland. She was a main performer at Dublin's Gate Theatre. She also performed in London's West End, which is a famous theatre district. In 1948, she joined the Abbey Theatre in Dublin as a guest actress. She performed with The Lyric Theatre Company.

She also acted in radio plays. In 1946, she was in a Radio Eireann (Irish radio) play called Katie Roche. The next year, she performed in another radio play, Wife to James Whelan. Both of these plays were by the Irish writer Teresa Deevy.
