Sorcha Cusack was born in Dublin, Ireland, on April 9, 1949. She comes from a family of actors. Her parents, Cyril Cusack and Maureen Cusack, were both actors.
Sorcha has two older sisters who are also actresses: Sinéad Cusack and Niamh Cusack. She also has a half-sister named Catherine Cusack. Her sister Sinéad is married to actor Jeremy Irons, making Sorcha the aunt of actor Max Irons. Sorcha Cusack is married to actor Nigel Cooke, and they have two children together.

One of her early big roles was playing the main character in the BBC TV show Jane Eyre in 1973. In the year 2000, she was in the movie Snatch. She played the mother of a character named Mickey, who was played by Brad Pitt. In 1993, she appeared in an episode of Poirot.
Sorcha also used her voice for cartoons. In 1998, she was the voice of Mother Duck in the UK version of The First Snow of Winter. She has also acted in radio shows, including Baldi and Juno and the Paycock.
