Mauzy is a small, quiet place in Indiana, a U.S. state. It is not a city or a town with its own government. Instead, it is called an unincorporated community. This means it is part of a larger area, like Union Township in Rush County.
Mauzy's Past
Long ago, this community had a different name: Griffin Station. The name Mauzy came from a man named William Mauzy. He was a teacher who worked near the old Griffin Station area.
A special building called a post office opened in Mauzy in 1884. This was where people sent and received letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. It closed down in 1905.
