Max Labovitch was a Canadian ice hockey player who played professionally. He was born on January 18, 1924, and passed away on January 14, 2018. Max was also a member of the Jewish community.
Max Labovitch's Hockey Career
Max Labovitch played professional ice hockey for ten years. He took two breaks from playing to serve in the military during World War II. These breaks were in the 1942-43 and 1944-45 seasons.
In the 1941-42 season, Max played for the New Haven Eagles. This team was part of the American Hockey League. Later, in 1943-44, he played for two different teams. He spent time with both the famous New York Rangers and the New York Rovers.
After the war, in 1945, Max played for the Vancouver Pros. He also played for the Stan Evan Orioles in his hometown of Winnipeg. He continued his hockey career until the 1949-50 season. That year, he played for the Toledo Buckeyes. He scored 42 points in 49 games for them. The Toledo Buckeyes were part of the IHL.
Awards and Later Life
Max Labovitch was honored for his hockey achievements in February 2001. He was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame. This special place recognizes great hockey players from Manitoba, Canada.
Max Labovitch lived a long life. He passed away in January 2018 at the age of 93.
