Pageantry Journey

Binibining Pilipinas 2016

Maxine competed in the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 pageant. On April 17, 2016, she won the main title of Miss Universe Philippines 2016. The event took place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. She also received a special award called Miss Philippine Airlines.

Miss Universe 2016

After winning Binibining Pilipinas, Maxine Medina represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2016 competition. She successfully reached the Top 6 finalists in the pageant.

During the national costume competition, Maxine wore a special outfit designed by Rhett Eala. It was inspired by the vinta, which is a traditional boat from Mindanao. Her headpiece looked like a large piece of coral found in the Philippines' reefs. This beautiful costume was very detailed and even had real south sea pearls.

In the preliminary competition, Maxine showed off her unique "alta walk." This walk involved moving her shoulders perfectly with her hips as she glided. She wore a green and white striped bikini for the swimsuit part. For the evening gown competition, she wore a flowing green gown with a fringe skirt, also designed by Rhett Eala.

At the final coronation event, Maxine moved forward into the Top 13. She wore the same green and white striped bikini for the Top 13 swimsuit competition, which helped her advance to the Top 9. For the Top 9 evening gown competition, she wore a stunning silver-red gown by Rhett Eala. This helped her secure a spot in the Top 6.
