The mayor of Orange County is the leader of the government for Orange County, Florida. This person is like the main manager for the whole county and is also the head of the Board of County Commissioners. The mayor is chosen by the people of Orange County in a county-wide election.

What Does the Mayor Do?
The mayor's main job is to manage the daily work of the Orange County government. This is a big responsibility! The mayor leads a team of over 8,000 county employees.
They also manage a large budget of more than $7.2 billion as of 2025. This money is used for things like parks, roads, and public safety. The mayor and the county commission also act like a city government for areas in the county that are not part of an official city. These are called unincorporated areas.

Before 2004, the job was called "Orange County Chairman." Voters decided to change the name to "Mayor" to better describe the role. The position first became an elected job back in 1930.
Being the mayor of Orange County is one of the most important elected jobs in all of Central Florida. The current mayor is Jerry Demings. He started his job on December 4, 2018, and was re-elected by voters in 2022.
