The Mayor of Reading, Pennsylvania, is the main leader of the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. Reading is the fourth-largest city in the state of Pennsylvania. The city government of Reading includes a mayor and a city council. The mayor is chosen by voters for a four-year term.
Before 1996, the Mayor of Reading worked under a different system called a city commission government. Since 1996, the city has used a home rule government. This change started when Mayor Paul Angstadt took office in January 1996.
