Mazon is a small village located in Grundy County, Illinois, United States. Its name comes from a word in the Potawatomi language, meaning "nettles."
In 2020, about 979 people lived in Mazon. A very interesting fact about this area is that the Tully Monster, Illinois's official State Fossil, was first discovered nearby in Mazon Creek. Mazon was founded in 1876 and used to have a train station for the Santa Fe railway.
