Early Life and Education
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi grew up in Evaton, a town in the Gauteng province of South Africa. He became interested in politics when he was young, especially after his uncle was arrested in 1992 for being involved in the fight against apartheid.
Student Activism
While studying at the University of the Witwatersrand, Ndlozi became very active in youth political groups. He joined the South African Students Congress (SASCO), the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), and the Young Communist League (YCL). He also supported international movements, like those for Palestine and Cuba. In 2013, he was part of a campaign called "No Obama Campaign" started by some youth political groups in South Africa.
Advanced Studies
Ndlozi continued his studies and earned his PhD in political studies from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017.
Political Journey
When Ndlozi became a Member of Parliament in 2014, he shared his goals. He wanted to make sure that government leaders were held responsible for their actions. He also hoped that Parliament would become more connected to the people. He believed that MPs should truly represent the citizens and their interests.
Parliamentary Debates
During his time in Parliament, Ndlozi and other members of the Economic Freedom Fighters, including Julius Malema, were sometimes removed from the National Assembly. This happened during important speeches, like the State of the Nation Address in 2015 and 2016. These removals often happened because of strong disagreements and debates about how the government was following the Constitution. The Economic Freedom Fighters believed that certain actions by the then-President did not respect the Constitution.
