How McCoy Got Its Name
McCoy was named after a person named Isaac McCoy. He was a landowner in the area. Many places get their names from important people or families who lived there.
The First Post Office
A post office was opened in McCoy in 1879. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The first person in charge of the post office was James A. Sears. He was called the postmaster. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1968.
