Međimurje County is a special area in the very north of Croatia. It's like a small region with its own government. The main city and where the county's government is located is Čakovec. Other important cities in Međimurje are Prelog and Mursko Središće.
This county is mostly flat land. It sits between two important rivers: the Mura and the Drava. The Drava River has two large artificial lakes, which are like big ponds made by people. These are Lake Varaždin and Lake Dubrava. Lake Dubrava is actually the biggest artificial lake in all of Croatia. It's also the second largest lake in the entire country!
