Meadow Mills is a small place in Frederick County, Virginia, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.

Meadow Mills is located in the southern part of Frederick County. It sits southwest of a place called Middletown. The community is right next to Cedar Creek. Because of its location by the creek, Meadow Mills used to have a different name. It was once called Cedar Creek, named after the creek itself.

A Glimpse into History

Early Farming and Mills

In the past, Meadow Mills was an important place for farming. Farmers grew a lot of grain there. This is why the community had many mills. Mills are buildings where grain is ground into flour.

An old newspaper from 1882, called The Stephen City Star, talked about Meadow Mills. It mentioned that there were mills and machines called "threshes" in the community. Threshes were used to separate grain from its stalks.

Local Millers

The newspaper also named two people from Meadow Mills. Their names were J. and W. Hottel. They were known as "millers." A miller is someone who works in a mill. They would grind the grain that farmers brought in. This shows how important farming and milling were to the community long ago.
