Megumu Yoshida: A Football Journey
Megumu Yoshida was born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on April 13, 1973. He grew up loving football and eventually became a professional player. After finishing his studies at Doshisha University, he joined a top Japanese football team.
Playing Days: On the Field
Yoshida started his professional career in 1996 with Verdy Kawasaki. He played as a defender, which means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals. He didn't play much in his first two years.
In 1998, he moved to Vissel Kobe. Here, he played many games as a left-sided defender for three seasons. He then joined JEF United Ichihara in 2001. He continued to play as a defender, often as part of a three-player defense line.
Later, in 2004, Yoshida played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He became a regular player there, helping to defend the goal. His last team was Sagan Tosu in the J2 League, where he played for two seasons, mostly as a central defender. He retired from playing football at the end of the 2007 season. Throughout his career, he played in 166 league games and scored 2 goals.
Coaching the Teams
After he stopped playing, Megumu Yoshida decided to become a coach. He started his coaching journey at Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2008, working with their youth team. In 2009, he coached at his old university, Chukyo University.
In 2010, he returned to Sagan Tosu, this time as a coach for their main team. He even became the manager for a short time in August 2014. A manager is like the head coach who makes all the big decisions for the team.
He later moved to FC Gifu in 2016, where he was also a coach. He took over as manager there in July 2016. In 2017, he became a coach for V-Varen Nagasaki. Today, he is an assistant manager for Avispa Fukuoka.
