Mehmet Ali Birand (born December 9, 1941 – died January 17, 2013) was a famous Turkish journalist, writer, and political commentator. He was known for his long career in news, especially for hosting the popular TV show 32. Gün.

Mehmet Ali Birand was born in Istanbul, Turkey, on December 9, 1941. His parents were İzzet and Mürvet Birand. He grew up in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. His family had roots from different parts of Turkey.

He went to Galatasaray High School and finished his education there. This school is very well-known in Turkey.

Birand's Career in Journalism

Mehmet Ali Birand started his career as a journalist in 1964. He began writing for the newspaper Milliyet. A journalist collects, writes, and reports news.

Later, in 1992, he joined Show TV. There, he presented the news to many viewers. He also hosted a very popular political show called 32. Gün. This show first aired on TRT in 1985. It then moved to other private TV channels like CNN Türk and Show TV. He also presented daily news on CNN Türk. Before he passed away in 2013, he worked at Kanal D. He continued to host the news there.

Birand was also a member of the board for Galatasaray Sports Club. This is a very famous sports club in Turkey.
