About Mel Galley

Mel Galley was born in Cannock, Staffordshire, England. He became a talented guitarist.

A Special Way to Play Guitar

While playing with the band Whitesnake, Mel had a serious accident. He hurt his arm at a fairground in Germany. This injury made it hard for him to play the guitar.

However, Mel was determined to keep playing. He used a special device called "The Claw." This device was made of springs and wires. It helped him play the guitar again even with his injury.

Starting Phenomena

Mel Galley also helped start the band Phenomena. He created this band with his brother, Tom Galley, and Wilfried Rimensberger. Mel's skills in writing songs and playing the guitar were very important to the band's success.

Mel's Final Days

In February 2008, Mel shared that he was very sick. He had a type of cancer called oesophageal cancer. He knew he did not have much time left.

Mel said he felt very lucky. He had seen many great bands and played with many amazing musicians. He also had many wonderful experiences. He was thankful that he could say goodbye to all his friends.
