Mel Winkler (born October 23, 1941 – died June 11, 2020) was an American actor. He was well-known for lending his voice to the wise guardian mask, Aku Aku, in the popular Crash Bandicoot video games. He voiced Aku Aku from Crash Bandicoot: Warped all the way to Crash Twinsanity.

Acting Career
Mel Winkler started his acting journey in 1969. He began by performing tap dancing in a show called Anything Goes. He spent time performing on Broadway in New York City. He was in plays like The Great White Hope in 1968 and Joe Turner's Come and Gone in 1988.
Even though he had many live-action roles, Mel Winkler became famous for his voice acting. He was the voice of the important character Aku Aku in the Crash Bandicoot video game series. Kids and teens often recognize his voice from these games.
He also voiced Lucius Fox in the animated TV show The New Batman Adventures. Lucius Fox is a smart character who helps Batman. Another fun voice role he had was Johnny Snowman in the TV series Oswald.
Mel Winkler also appeared in movies and TV shows. Some of his movie roles included Melvin in Doc Hollywood (1991) and Coach White in Coach Carter (2005). On TV, he was in shows like Star Trek: Voyager and NYPD Blue.
Later Years and Passing
Mel Winkler passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 11, 2020. The reason for his death was not shared. The video game Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was dedicated to his memory. This shows how much his work, especially as Aku Aku, meant to fans.
