Early Life and Musical Journey
Melesio Morales studied music right in his hometown of Mexico City. He learned a lot about composing and conducting. Even early in his career, two of his operas were performed in Mexico City. These early works were written in the Italian language.
Success in Europe
From 1865 to 1868, Morales traveled and lived in Europe. This was a very important time for him. In 1866, he had a huge success in Florence, Italy. His opera called Ildegonda was performed there and became a big hit! This success made him a famous star back in his home country of Mexico.
Return to Mexico
After his time in Europe, Melesio Morales returned to Mexico City. He continued to work as a composer, creating new music. He also became a conductor, leading orchestras in performances. Besides composing and conducting, he taught music to new students. He kept working in Mexico City until he passed away.
