Meli'sa Morgan is a talented American singer and songwriter. She is known for her R&B and Soul music. She became very popular in the 1980s and 1990s with many hit songs. Some of her most famous songs include her version of Prince's "Do Me, Baby", "Do You Still Love Me", and "Still in Love with You".

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Meli'sa Morgan was born in Queens, New York. She started her music journey singing in a church gospel choir called the Starlets of Corona. She has said that the famous singer Chaka Khan was a big inspiration for her music.
Music Career Highlights
Early Group Success
Meli'sa Morgan first appeared on the music charts as the lead singer for a dance group called Shades of Love. In 1982, their song "Body to Body (Keep in Touch)" reached number 26 on Billboard magazine's Hot Dance Club Play chart. This song became popular again in 1994 and even reached number 1 on the same chart!
Later that year, she joined a studio group called High Fashion. Their only hit song, "Feelin' Lucky Lately," reached number 32 on the US Black Singles chart. After leaving High Fashion in 1983, Meli'sa worked as a backup singer for big stars like Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, and Melba Moore.
Solo Hits and Achievements
As a solo artist, Meli'sa Morgan had a huge hit with her cover version of Prince's song "Do Me, Baby". This song was the title track from her first album and stayed at number 1 on the R&B chart for three weeks. It also reached number 46 on the overall Billboard chart in 1986. Another popular song from her first album was "Do You Still Love Me," which made it into the top 5 on the R&B chart. She also had several hit songs on the US dance chart, including "Still in Love with You," which reached number 3 in 1992.
A part of Meli'sa's 1986 song "Fool's Paradise" was used by Mary J. Blige in the chorus of the 1996 Jay-Z song "Can't Knock the Hustle."
Recent Music and Recognition
After some time away from music, Meli'sa Morgan released her fifth solo album, I Remember, in 2005. The first song from this album, "Back Together Again," was originally sung by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. It was played on many radio stations in 2006 and reached number 46 on Billboard's R&B chart.
In 2014, Meli'sa Morgan received an Unsung Heroine Award from the National R&B Music Society. This award honored her contributions to music. She was also featured on an episode of TVOne's show Unsung in 2015, which tells the stories of famous R&B artists.
On May 28, 2024, Meli'sa Morgan's 1986 debut album, "Do Me Baby," earned a gold certification. This means it sold over 500,000 copies, which is a big achievement!
