Melis Alphan (born in 1978) is a well-known journalist and writer from Turkey. She is famous for speaking up for women's rights and for her articles about fashion.
Melis Alphan's Journey in Journalism
Melis Alphan went to the American Collegiate Institute in İzmir. After that, she studied fashion at the London College of Fashion. There, she earned her science degree. She also spent some time studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
In 2001, Melis returned to Turkey. She started her career in journalism at Vizyon magazine. The same year, she began working at the newspaper Radikal. By 2003, she joined the team at the Milliyet newspaper.
In 2009, she started working for the Hürriyet newspaper. She wrote articles there for nine years. Her topics included women's rights and fashion. Over time, she became one of the few women journalists to have her own column in a Turkish newspaper. In 2018, she helped judge the Metin Göktepe Journalism Awards. In 2019, she published a book called I Will – Inspiring Life Stories.
