Melleruds Idrottsförening, or Melleruds IF for short, was started on July 28, 1908. A group of people met at Jacobssons café in Mellerud to create the club. Eric Widlund was the very first chairman, like a president, of the club.
Since they started, Melleruds IF has mostly played in the middle levels of the Swedish football league system. This means they've been in divisions that are not the very top, but also not the very bottom. They play their home matches at a place called Rådavallen in Mellerud.
