Meloneras is a popular tourist town located on the sunny south coast of Gran Canaria. This island is part of the Canary Islands in Spain. Meloneras is actually a part of the larger town of Maspalomas. It belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Meloneras is mostly known for its many hotels and places to stay for visitors. It's a great spot for family vacations.

What Makes Meloneras Special?
Meloneras has some famous landmarks that make it unique. These places are fun to explore.
The Maspalomas Lighthouse
One of the most important sights is the Faro de Maspalomas. This tall lighthouse stands right next to Maspalomas Beach. It has guided ships for many years.
The Maspalomas Dunes
Close to the lighthouse, you'll find the amazing Maspalomas Dunes. These are huge sand dunes that look like a desert. They are a protected natural area.
Unique Architecture in Meloneras
Many of the fancy hotels in Meloneras have a special building style. It's called Canarian Spanish Colonial Revival. This style takes inspiration from old Spanish buildings.
Inspired by History
This unique look comes partly from the Hotel Santa Catalina in Las Palmas. That hotel was built in 1890 by a famous architect named de la Torre.
Hotels with a Story
- The Costa Meloneras Hotel opened in the year 2000.
- The Villa del Conde hotel opened in 2005. This hotel is very special. It has a replica of a nearby town called Agüimes.
- The founder of the Lopesan Hotel Group, Eustasio López González, was from Agüimes.
- The Villa del Conde hotel even has a copy of the big, round-domed church from Agüimes. This church replica acts as the hotel's main reception area!
