Melrose is a friendly neighborhood located in Sayreville, a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA. It's a part of the larger Sayreville community.
The Story of Melrose
Melrose wasn't always a separate town or neighborhood. A long time ago, in 1876, it joined up with other nearby places. These included Ernston, Morgan, and a spot called Sayre's Village.
Forming Sayreville Township
All these areas decided to come together under one new local government. This new government was called the Township of Sayreville. It was created from about 14 square miles of land. This land used to be part of a place called South Amboy Township. So, Melrose became an important part of the new Sayreville.
