Mendon is a small village located in Adams County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 872 people lived there. It is part of the larger Quincy area.
The village got its name from Mendon, Massachusetts.

History of Mendon
How Mendon Got Its Name
Mendon was first planned out in 1833. Back then, it was called Fairfield.
However, there was already another town named Fairfield in Illinois. So, the village decided to change its name to Mendon.

Mendon is in the northwest part of Adams County. Its exact location is 40°5′18″N 91°17′4″W / 40.08833°N 91.28444°W.
Size and Surroundings
The village covers an area of about 0.86 square miles (2.22 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Illinois Route 61 runs through the community. Illinois Route 336 is also nearby, about half a mile to the east. The city of Quincy is about eleven miles to the south-southwest. A small stream called Ursa Creek starts southeast of Mendon and flows past the south side of the village.
