Raequel Miller, born on May 1, 1978, is an American singer and rapper. She is known by her stage name Mercedes. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and became famous for her music. Mercedes is especially known for being signed to No Limit Records, a well-known music label.
Mercedes' Music Journey
Mercedes started her music career in the late 1990s. She was attending Xavier University in New Orleans when her talent was discovered. A music group called Kane & Abel saw her sing at a talent show. They were very impressed by her performance.
After seeing her, Kane & Abel invited Mercedes to join them in the recording studio. There, she met Master P, who owned No Limit Records. Master P asked her to sing for him, and she joined the label.
Her First Album
On June 29, 1999, Mercedes released her first album. It was put out by Master P's No Limit Records. Many other artists from No Limit Records were featured on the album. These included Mystikal, Mac, Mia X, Silkk the Shocker, and Master P himself.
Her debut album was quite successful. It reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 music chart. It also climbed to number 12 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. After releasing her album, Mercedes reportedly took a break from music. She wanted to study law.
