Mia Young (born January 9, 1970), known as Mia X, is an American rapper and songwriter. She comes from New Orleans. In the early 1990s, she became famous in the local "bounce" music scene. Mia X was the first female rapper to sign with Master P's successful record label, No Limit Records. She is well-known for working with other No Limit Records artists. These include Master P and Silkk the Shocker. They worked together on popular albums like Ice Cream Man, Ghetto D, and Charge It 2 Da Game.

About Mia X's Life
Mia Young grew up in the Lafitte housing project in New Orleans. Her father was a truck driver, and her mother was a counselor. She finished Redeemer High School. She also went to Delgado Community College for a short time. Then, she decided to follow her dream of a music career.
In 2006, her publicist announced that Mia X was working on a cookbook. Before the cookbook, she shared cooking ideas online using #teamwhipdempots. Her cookbook was released in 2018.
In the 2010s, Mia X was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She successfully fought the illness. During surgery for the cancer, her eye was accidentally injured. This left her with less vision in one eye.
Mia X's Music Journey
Early Music Career
Mia X started her rap career in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This was before she even finished high school. She performed with a group called New York Inc. Mannie Fresh, who later became a famous music producer, was also part of this group.
Her first recorded song was "Ask them Suckas" in 1992. In 1993, she released "Da Payback." This song was very popular locally. It was the best-selling local record at Odyssey Records in 1993.
In 1994, Mia X signed a contract with Emoja Records. This label released her first full album, Mommie Dearest, in 1995.
Joining No Limit Records
In 1995, Master P signed Mia X to his label, No Limit Records. He had heard about her from a record store where she worked. She joined as a solo artist. She also became a member of Master P's group, TRU. This helped her gain national success. She was the first female rapper to sign with No Limit Records. On November 21, 1995, Mia X released her first album with the label. It was called Good Girl Gone Bad.
Popular Albums: Unlady Like and Mama Drama
In 1997, Mia X released her first single from her second album. It was called "The Party Don't Stop." It featured Master P and Foxy Brown. On June 24, 1997, her second album, Unlady Like, came out. It reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also reached No. 11 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. This album was certified gold in October 1997. This means it sold over 500,000 copies.
On October 27, 1998, Mia X released her third album, Mama Drama. This album was also very successful. It reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also reached No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
Later Career and Return to Music
Starting in 1999, Mia X took a break from recording music. This was after many family members passed away. Also, the No Limit Records group changed as Master P explored other interests. In the early 2000s, she worked in real estate. She also wrote songs for other hip-hop artists without getting public credit.
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Mia X recorded "My FEMA People." This song was about the difficult conditions in New Orleans.
Mia X appeared on C-Murder's 2008 album, Screamin' 4 Vengeance. She was on songs called "Mihita" and "Posted on tha Block." On June 13, 2014, she released a new song called "Mr. Right." It featured artist Ms. Tasha. This song was released through her own label, Mama Mia Muzic. On September 1, 2015, Mia X released another new song, "No More," featuring Caren Green. She also released a mixtape in 2010 called Unladylike Forever.
