This store later became the start of his music company, No Limit Records. In 1990, his brother Kevin was killed in New Orleans. This sad event made Master P even more determined to succeed and help his family.

Business Ventures

He invested the money he earned from No Limit Records into many different businesses. These included a travel agency, real estate, films, TV shows, toys, clothing, and even gas stations.
His company, No Limit Enterprises, made $110 million in 1998. This success inspired other artists to start their own businesses. Master P also has his own line of "Make 'Em Say Ughh!" energy drinks.
Smart Business Strategies
In 1996, Master P made a special deal with Priority Records. His company, No Limit Records, kept 100% ownership of their music recordings. They also kept 85% of their record sales. This deal helped Master P earn a lot of money from his music.
Master P also used clever marketing ideas. He would sell tapes from his car in different cities. He gave free samples to people with nice cars so they would play his music. This "street-level" marketing helped him build a large fan base. He also released many records quickly and branded all his albums with the "No Limit" name. He made sure his albums stood out with unique covers and offered more songs per album than other artists. He turned his artists into characters, like in Marvel Comics. These strategies helped his record labels sell 75 million records.
Master P has managed the careers of his son, Romeo Miller, and other artists. He was also an executive producer for his daughter Cymphonique's Nickelodeon show, How To Rock, and co-created Romeo!, starring his son.
In 1998, Forbes magazine listed Master P as one of America's highest-paid entertainers. His wealth was estimated at $200 million in 2013, making him one of the richest people in hip hop.

Master P also tried a career in professional basketball. In 1998, he joined the Fort Wayne Fury in the CBA league. He later had tryouts with NBA teams like the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors. He played for other teams like the San Diego Stingrays and the Las Vegas Rattlers.
In 2008, he played in the McDonald's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. He also coached an AAU team called the P. Miller Ballers. Famous NBA players like Brandon Jennings and DeMar DeRozan were on his team. DeRozan said Master P taught them about life and the business of basketball.
