Meredith MacRae was born in Houston, Texas. Her parents were Gordon MacRae and Sheila MacRae. Both of her parents were also actors. Meredith had three siblings: William, Robert, and Heather MacRae.

Starring in My Three Sons
Meredith first became famous playing Sally Ann Morrison Douglas. This was a main role on the TV show My Three Sons. She played the girlfriend of Mike, one of the sons. Meredith was on the show for three seasons, from 1963 to 1965. She decided to leave the show to try other acting opportunities.
Life at Petticoat Junction
In 1966, Meredith joined the cast of another popular TV show. This show was called Petticoat Junction. She played the character Billie Jo Bradley. Her TV sisters were Betty Jo, played by Linda Kaye Henning, and Bobbie Jo, played by Lori Saunders.
Meredith was the third actress to play Billie Jo. The character of Billie Jo changed when Meredith took over the role. She became a strong and independent young woman. Billie Jo also focused more on her dream of becoming a singer. Meredith stayed with Petticoat Junction until the show ended in 1970.

Her Passing
In 1999, Meredith MacRae was diagnosed with brain cancer. She passed away at her home in Manhattan Beach, California, on July 14, 2000. She was 56 years old.
