Meshkan (which is spelled Persian: مشكان in Persian) is a city located in the country of Iran. It is an important place because it is the capital of the Meshkan District. This district is part of Neyriz County, which is found in the Fars Province.
Meshkan also serves as the main administrative center for the Meshkan Rural District. This means it's a central spot for managing the areas around it.
Understanding Meshkan's Population
How We Count People in Meshkan
Counting the number of people living in a city is called a census. It helps us understand how many people live in an area and how many homes there are. Iran conducts a National Census to gather this important information.
Population Changes Over Time
The population of Meshkan has been counted several times. Here's what the censuses have shown:
- In 2006, the city had 4,630 people living in 1,196 households (groups of people living together).
- By 2011, the population was 4,580 people, but they lived in more households, 1,345 of them.
- The most recent count in 2016 showed 4,617 people. These people lived in 1,458 households.
As you can see, the number of people has stayed quite similar over these years, but the number of households has grown. This might mean that families are getting smaller, or more people are living in their own homes.
