A Look Back at Messick's History
Messick began its story in 1882. This was an exciting time because a new railroad line reached this spot. Railroads were super important back then for travel and moving goods. The community grew up around this new transportation hub.
A man named Messick owned a general store here. This store was a central place for people to buy supplies. The community was named after him. In 1884, Messick even got its own post office. This made it easier for people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. However, it closed down in 1926.
This short history shows how Messick started as a small railroad stop. It grew into a community with a store and a post office.
