Metamorphosis is a cool series of art pieces by the famous Spanish artist Joan Miró. He made these special collage-drawings between 1935 and 1936. Think of them as a creative break he took while working on another big project called Paintings on masonite.

What Inspired Miró's Metamorphosis?

Just like his Masonite Paintings, Miró used these "Metamorphosis" artworks to show his worries about what was happening in the world. In the 1930s, Spain was going through a tough time with political changes. There were many protests and disagreements across the country.

Miró used his art to express his feelings about these events. Experts who have studied his work believe these collage pictures add a deeper meaning to his other colorful art from that period. They show how he felt about the serious situation around him.

How Art Reaches Everyone: The 2011 Exhibition

In October 2011, there was a special art show called L'escala de l'evasió. This exhibition made it super easy for visitors to learn more about Miró's art.

They used something called QRpedia codes. These are like special barcodes you can scan with your phone. When you scanned them, you could read about the artworks on Wikipedia in different languages, including Catalan and English. It was a clever way to connect art with technology!

The Metamorphosis Art Series

Miró created many pieces for his "Metamorphosis" series. Each one is a unique collage or drawing. They were made using different materials like pencil, ink, watercolor, and even pieces of newspaper.

These artworks vary in size, but they all share the same creative spirit. Some are now part of private collections, while others are displayed in famous museums, like the MoMA in New York.
