The Methodist Episcopal Society of Tyringham is a very old and important church in Tyringham, Massachusetts. It is also known as the Union Church and Parsonage. This historic building is located at 128-130 Main Road. It is currently the only church still standing in the town.
The property includes a beautiful church building. It was built in 1844 in the Greek Revival style. Next to it is a house called a parsonage. From 1844 to 1907, the church building was also used for town meetings. This special property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 2000.

About the Church and Its History
The Methodist Episcopal Society of Tyringham is found in the small main village of Tyringham. It sits on the west side of Main Road, near Church Road. The parsonage house is across Church Road, to the south.
The Church Building's Design
The church is a rectangular building made of wood. It has a roof that slopes down on two sides, called a gabled roof. Most of its outside walls are covered with clapboards. The front of the church has smooth, flat wooden boards. A large porch, called a portico, sticks out from the front. This porch has four tall columns in the Ionic style.
These columns hold up a triangular part called a pediment. Inside this pediment are several sunken panels. The main front wall of the church is mostly plain. It only has the main entrance and wide flat columns on the corners. The entrance door is framed by flat columns and has a wide, decorative top piece. The actual doorway inside is framed by wooden panels.
The church also has a tall tower. It rises about 70 feet (21 meters) high. The tower is made of square sections stacked on top of each other.
When the Church Was Built
The church was built in 1844. This was a time when the town of Tyringham was doing very well. It is considered one of the best examples of Greek Revival church design in Berkshire County. A group called the Reformed Methodists built it. This was their second church building, as their first one had been destroyed by fire.
The parsonage house was built around the same time as the church. It was first a private home. The church bought it in 1903 to use as a parsonage. A parsonage is a house where a minister or pastor lives. This house is a simple one-and-a-half-story building. Its front has a gable roof. A single-story addition was added to the south side in the 20th century.
