The Metropoint Tower is a very tall office building in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. It is also known as 600 Interchange Tower. This building has 20 floors. It was finished in 1975. When it was new, it was called Shelard Tower. It is the tallest building in its area, outside of the big cities of Minneapolis or Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Today, the Metropoint Tower is part of a group of office buildings. This group is called The Metropoint, The Center For Business. The tower is the tallest of four buildings in this complex. These buildings were built between the 1970s and early 1980s. You can see the Metropoint Tower from many miles away. It is a famous part of the St. Louis Park skyline. A company called James M. Cooperman & Associates Architects, Inc. designed the building and the other buildings around it.

Metropoint Tower: Key Facts

In 2007, a company named BPG bought the whole Metropoint complex. They paid 86 million US dollars for it. In 2011, the building won a special award. It was called the TOBY award, which stands for "The Office Building of the Year." This is an international award. The building is known as a "Class B" office space. This means it is a good quality office building. In October 2012, a big bank called Wells Fargo rented a lot of space in the building. They leased 478,000 square feet of office space.

What Happened in 2013?

On July 18, 2013, something unexpected happened. At about 10:40 in the morning, there was an explosion. It happened in the parking garage connected to the Metropoint Tower. Because of this, about 800 people had to leave the building. These people worked in the tower. Luckily, no one was hurt in the explosion. The building stayed empty for the rest of that day.
