The Miami Girls Foundation was created by Ekaterina Juskowski in 2015. Her goal was to change the way people thought about women from Miami. She wanted to show the world that "Miami girls" are strong leaders who are making their city a better place.
The foundation received support and money from groups like the Knight Foundation and the Miami Foundation. This help allowed them to launch projects that celebrate female leaders in the community.
In a 2016 interview, Juskowski said, "My purpose is to introduce the world to many women who are working to improve the city... Through their stories, we hope to inspire others to strive to build a better future and a better perception of Miami."
Inspiring Campaigns
The foundation is famous for its public campaigns that tell the stories of amazing women in Miami. These campaigns often take place during Women's History Month in March.
"Miami Leaders" (2016)
The first major campaign was called "Miami Leaders." It started in 2016 and introduced 30 women who were making a difference in Miami. These women worked in many different fields, including:

- Civil rights (fighting for fairness and equality)
- Technology
- Business
This campaign helped show a new, positive image of women in the city.
"Miami Girls Making History" (2017)
A year later, the foundation launched "Miami Girls Making History." This project honored another 30 female leaders from important groups like the National Organization for Women (NOW).
To share these women's stories, the foundation used social media and news outlets. They also worked with the HistoryMiami Museum on a special art project. They displayed large portraits of the leaders for everyone to see.
The campaign celebrated nearly 100 leaders in total. One of them was Julia Tuttle, the only woman to have founded a major American city (Miami). Other important women featured were Ruth Shack, a community leader, and Patricia Ireland, a national activist.
"Never Not Working" (2018–2019)
Between 2018 and 2019, the Miami Girls Foundation partnered with the Miami Workers Center. Their goal was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by domestic workers. These are people who work in homes, often as cleaners or caregivers.
The "Never Not Working" campaign shared the stories of these workers. It talked about issues like unfair pay and poor working conditions. The project brought together over 100 different community groups to support the cause.
Many important people supported this campaign, including local politicians like Daniella Levine Cava and Michael Gongora. The campaign used art to share its powerful message with the public.
